Adding WordPress Users and WordPress User roles

New "Users" can be added by logging into the WordPress dashboard. in the left side WordPress menu select new user. A new user can be assigned roles. Each role gives the user different levels of access to the WordPress dashboard and front end builder.

When setting up a new user consider what role they play in your website. Here is a list of user roles.

  • Administrator: The highest level of permission. Admins have the power to access almost everything.
  • Editor: Has access to all posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags, and can upload media.
  • Author: Can write, upload media, edit, and publish their own posts.
  • Contributor: Has no publishing or uploading capability but can write and edit their own posts until they are published.
  • Viewer: Viewers can read and comment on posts and pages on private sites.
  • Subscriber: People who subscribe to your site’s updates.

Be sure when assigning new users that users use secure passwords.
